Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
The short version
- Our drafts are a starting point — a nexus letter or DBQ needs a licensed clinician's review and signature before you submit it.
- We help you build strong documentation. We never guarantee a rating or an approval — no one honestly can.
- You're responsible for the accuracy of what you provide; the documents reflect the facts you give us.
This summary is for quick reading. The full terms below are the authoritative version.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using VA Claim Commander, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use this service.
2. What VA Claim Commander Is
VA Claim Commander is a self-service software tool that uses artificial intelligence to help veterans prepare documentation for VA disability claims. We generate draft documents including nexus letters, personal statements, and buddy statements based on information you provide and records you upload.
VA Claim Commander is NOT:
- A law firm, attorney, or VA-accredited claims agent
- A medical provider or healthcare service
- A Veterans Service Organization (VSO) or accredited representative
- Affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Veterans Affairs
VA Claim Commander does not file, submit, present, or prosecute claims on behalf of any veteran. It prepares self-service documentation that the veteran uses to support their own claim. Veterans are encouraged to work with a free, VA-accredited VSO — find one near you.
3. Your Consent to Upload Your Own Records
By uploading documents to VA Claim Commander, you confirm that:
- You are uploading your own medical records, military service records, or records you are legally authorized to use
- You consent to AI processing of your documents for the purpose of generating your claim materials
- You understand that your document content will be transmitted to Anthropic's AI service for processing
- You are not uploading records belonging to another person without their explicit written consent
Saved account on paid plans. On a paid plan, VA Claim Commander saves the case information you provide to your account so your work follows you across devices — this is on by default so you don't lose progress, as described in the Privacy Policy(Section 5b). You stay in control — the way to turn saving off is to delete your data: "Start Over" permanently erases your saved case at any time, and you may email support to delete your account and permanently purge all associated data. The free tier remains session-only — nothing you enter is stored on our servers.
4. Documents Require Provider Review
All nexus letters and medical opinion documents generated by VA Claim Commander are drafts only. They must be reviewed and signed by a licensed healthcare provider before submission to the VA. By signing, the provider takes clinical and legal responsibility for the content of the document.
All generated documents require in-person clinical examination by a licensed provider for any fields requiring physical measurements. The provider must verify, correct, and complete all clinical findings before signing.
VA Claim Commander is not responsible for any document submitted to the VA without appropriate provider review and signature.
5. No Legal or Medical Advice
Nothing in VA Claim Commander constitutes legal advice, medical advice, or a guarantee of any particular VA rating or benefit outcome. Veterans are encouraged to work with an accredited VSO, claims agent, or VA-accredited attorney for legal guidance specific to their situation.
6. Accuracy of Information
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter and documents you upload. VA Claim Commander generates documents based on the information you provide. Intentionally submitting false or fraudulent information to the VA is a federal crime under 18 U.S.C. § 1001.
AI-generated documents may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing all generated documents for accuracy before presenting them to a provider for signature.
7. Payment and Refunds
Building and downloading your claim documents is free for veterans — there is no fee for generated documents. Optional paid offerings are billed separately through our payment processor (Stripe) at the prices shown on the pricing page: an optional Veteran Premium subscription that lifts monthly limits (cancel anytime, effective at the end of the billing period), and Commander Health's clinician review, a flat-fee service for a provider-signed nexus letter. Current pricing is always on the VA Claim Commander website. For subscriptions, refunds for an unused period are issued at our discretion; for a technical issue, contact support@vaclaimcommander.com within 48 hours.
8. Limitation of Liability
VA Claim Commander is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for:
- Any VA claim denial or unfavorable rating decision
- Errors in AI-generated documents
- Actions taken based on documents generated by this service
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service giving rise to the claim.
9. Prohibited Uses
You may not use VA Claim Commander to:
- Generate fraudulent VA claims documents
- Upload records belonging to another person without authorization
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or copy our AI prompts or systems
- Resell or redistribute generated documents as your own product
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of VA Claim Commander after changes constitutes acceptance. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
