VSO Handoff Brief

Organize Your Claim for Your Rep

A VA-accredited representative files your claim for free — and they work faster when you walk in organized. This tool builds a clean, one-page brief listing the conditions you're claiming, the evidence you have, and exactly what you're asking them to do.

Why hand your rep an organized brief?

Every veteran is entitled to free help from a VA-accredited representative — a Veterans Service Organization (VSO), a claims agent, or an attorney. They are the ones authorized to prepare, present, and prosecute your claim before the VA. Working with one is one of the best moves a veteran can make.

But reps are busy, and the veterans who get the most out of a meeting are the ones who arrive organized. When you can hand your rep a single page that says here are my conditions, here is the evidence I already have, and here is what I need help with, you save both of you time — and nothing important gets missed.

That's all this tool does: it turns what you already know into a clean brief you can print or email. You stay in command of your claim; your accredited rep provides the representation and does the filing.

VA Claim Commander is a self-service software tool — not a VSO, law firm, or VA-accredited representative — and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Veterans Affairs. It does not file, submit, present, or prosecute claims, and makes no guarantee of any claim outcome. Your accredited representative provides the representation.

If you're in crisis or thinking about suicide, you're not alone. The Veterans Crisis Line is free, confidential, and available 24/7 — you don't need to be enrolled in VA care. Dial 988, then press 1 · Text 838255 · Chat online
